it’s hard to believe we have owned this home almost an entire month & are still not moved in. it mostly just stinks that dave has been at the house so much that we end up not seeing him for days on end. dave took off all last week to work on the house & while he did get a lot done, there is just so much to do still. he’s ripped out all of the flooring that will be replaced with hardwood. he started painting the loft & great room. and to be honest, i don’t even know what else he’s donei told him this week that i want the baby gates made & kendall’s room done & we’ll just live upstairs until the hardwood is in. perhaps we can officially get moved in the next week or so?!
the dining room has no flooring & kendall bugs!!
so you may or may not remember that there was a little wall that stuck out from here. i thought it looked dumb & wanted it gone. it’s a good thing, because there was a lot of rotting wood behind here! there was a water leak from the roof. just a mess. we had to hire a contractor to fix everything from the upstairs, roof, siding, walls, & floor. fortunately, the leak is fixed (we hope) & we can move forward!
already i am liking the wood beams white instead of their natural color. we will be painting the walls the same color as the loft (below), so i think the white will look much cleaner. it needs many more coats & takes forever since you have to go on a crazy too high latter (that you couldn’t pay me to go on!).
the most exciting change in the house – paint! this is the loft (my office) & great room color. it’s shale by benjamin moore. i am in love!
that’s over 1,000 sq feet of hardwood just waiting to be installed!
on just one wall in kendall’s room, we are going with a medium grey/purple color. i have a large branch wall decal picked out from an etsy shop (below) that has white flowers and a bright beige colored birds. i think we’ll do the rest of the walls a light grey color so i can continue with it into the nursery, but haven’t picked out that color quite yet.
…. we will need to replace one of kendall’s windows.
i didn’t bring the right lense to take a picture of the entire room, but we have removed the bar here! it looks so much better. i’m thinking i will get one of those carts with wheels & create a mini coffee bar or something next to the built-in fridge…. and of course get a wine rack!
